State and Academic Institutions
Along with the two ministries, which are directly involved in environment integration into regional development and territorial planning, namely the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the Ministry of Environment and Water, there are many other state and academic institutions that also participate in this process. Thus the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is in charge of developing and implementing the National Strategy Plan and National Programme for Rural Development and the Ministry of Economy and Energy applies the national energy efficiency policy and coordinates the process of elaboration of the National Strategy on Sustainable Development.

University Center for Sustainable Development (UCSD)

It main objective is organization and execution of interdisciplinary research covering all dimensions of the sustainable development: social, environmental, economic and institutional. That is why the research supposes participation of faculties from different departments at UNWE as well as from other tertiary institutions. The Center develops also teaching and study materials for various academic courses in the field of sustainable development.
