closeThe goal of the project is to ensure long-term conservation of the high nature value grasslands of Bulgaria and to mainstream grasslands biodiversity concerns into Bulgaria’s agricultural policy in order to reverse the negative changes caused by unsustainable grazing, abandonment, and land conversion.
To achieve these goals, the project envisages a number of activities like preparation of biodiversity management plans and agri-environment management plans for the pilot sites, assist farmers to access agri – environment payments from NRDP; facilitate marketing of eco-products, awareness raising at local and national level, share lessons learned for replication within EU and UNDP/GEF.
The project will establish an Agri-Environment Policy Unit and a Mobile Advisory Center will be established.
closeThe project seeks to create a viable/working model for the implementation of the National Programme and to demonstrate the renovation of residential blocks and their cartilage, developing in parallel to this the rules and mechanisms for the implementation and management of the NPRRBB. Based on it the MRDPW will prepare the secondary legislation for the programme’s organization.

closeThe project short title is RIO Conventions as it aims to strengthen the Bulgaria’s capacity to integrate the objectives of three UN conventions in regional development policies.
The three Rio Conventions are: UN Convention on Biodiversity (UNCBD), UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
The long-term goal of the project is to embed global environmental concerns into the processes of regional and local development, as well as spatial planning in Bulgaria.
The project is a joint initiative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) and the Ministry of Environment and Water (MoEW), financed by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
