An official visit of two representatives of the South-west England region was conducted on the 2^nd and 3^rd of June 2008 under the Rio Conventions Project. The main goal of the event was to introduce representatives of Bulgarian district and municipal administrations to some opportunities for cooperation with the South-west England Region on joint projects, co-financed by the EU funds. The seminar speakers were Mr. Phil McVey - Director of European Programmes in the South West of England Regional Development Agency and Mr. Brian Shipman - European Policy & Development Officer responsible for transnational co-operation across Europe and internationally for Cornwall County Council.

 

During the seminar,  the municipal and district administrations representatives were given the opportunity for individual consultations with the official visitors form the South-west England region for discussions on specific opportunities for cooperation in the related areas: sustainable tourism; development of rural areas; agriculture; renewable energy sources and education.
