Pilot training course - “Integration of Global Environmental Issues into Regional and Local Planning”23.05.2008
During the period 3 April – 23 May 2008, a pilot testing session of the training course, developed by Sofia University and the Central European University entitled Integration of Global Environmental Issues into Regional and Local Planning was conducted for ten work days with 15 participants – experts from MRDPW, MoEW, municipal and district administrations. Main goal of the course is to support the integration of global environmental issues such as climate change, loss of biodiversity and land degradation into the policy of regional and local planning. More that 130 experts from the above institutions are expected to participate in the main training course forthcoming in the period October 2008 – June 2010.
Main topics of the training are:
Session 1 – Introduction to Sustainable Development and the Rio Conventions
Session 2 – Practical mechanisms and tools for integration of environmental issues into the planning and management policy for regional and local development.
Session 3 – Best practices for integration of issues concerning biodiversity loss, climate changes and land degradation into the regional development and management.
Session 4 – Environmental assessments in the context of regional development
Session 5 – Information technology for preservation of the environment and regional development.
