Start of the training courses entitled Integration of Global Environmental Issues into Regional and Local Planning Policies

On the 18 and 19.09.2008 in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridsky started the training of the first group of 13 participants from MRDPW, MoEW and municipalities entitled Integration of Global Environmental Issues into Regional and Local Planning Policies under the Rio Conventions Project. The training is designed for expert personal from the MRDPW, MoEW municipal and district administrations. There will be 130 experts trained from those institutions, divided into 8 groups in the period from September 2008 until March 2010.

The trainings will be conducted by lecturers from the Sofia University inline with the training programme developed and tested in cooperation with the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary in 2008. Each group will have lectures and exercises during 60 academic hours in 10 business days. By the end of the training the participants will pass an exam and will be awarded a certificate for the successful course completion by the Sofia University.

The nomination of the participants of the MRDPW, MoEW and those ministries’ local structures is conducted by the two ministries according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in August 2008. The nomination of representatives of other local and regional institutions is conducted through completion of Participation Application to the project office.
